At the time, Britain was imposing taxes and repression over its colonies in America. In 1765 British loyalists and supporters of the Stamp act considered the colonists "children planted by our care, nourished up by our indulgence... and protected by our arms." Responding to those words by Charles Townsend in a debate, Isaac Barre a member of Parlaiment called colonists "these Sons of Liberty" and warned that they would resist against repression and taxation.
The Sons of Liberty were not a legislative movement or a lobby. They were activists who fought in clandestine groups in the streets and through the press.
Britain was prepared to defend its colonial rights over Americans with armed men and the most powerful Navy in the world. The actions of the Sons of Liberty gave encouragement and strength to common patriots who wanted to create a government that supported the spirit of opportunity and encouraged independent endeavor.
The spirit of resistence and courage shown by the early American Sons of Liberty can be seen in the Kosova people as they have fought in the streets of Kosova against their enemies.
The Kosova people should endorse and support the flag of Joseph DioGuardi because it represents the same spirit of determination and freedom. It is the flag of the Sons of Liberty.
